TREVOR NOAH’S ACHIEVEMENTS

Hailed as one of the world’s most successful comics whose stand-up comedy performances have reached a global audience, Trevor Noah stands as an idol & inspiration not only to his fans, but to rising comics in the scene. With a record of 20 Emmy Award nominations across his career, he received two Primetime Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Short Form Variety Series” and “Outstanding Talk Series.” Moreover, he’s got Golden Globe and Grammy nominations to his name. 

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Proving that he’s the king of third-culture comedians, the South African comedian, television host, political commentator, and author, it all began when he got a small role on the South African soap opera “Isidingo.” Later on, he started hosting his own radio show “Noah's Ark” on  Gauteng's YFM. Dared by his friends to perform a comedy routine in a Nightclub, he soon found amusement in such, and started continuously hitting the stage in comedy clubs. Along the way, he gained further recognition, leading to his big break on TV, comedy fests, and more. He moved to the U.S. in 2012, becoming the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on The Tonight Show. 

His reputation solidified as correspondent on The Daily Show, and he later succeeded Jon Stewart as host for seven years.

“Noah is different, and always has been. He was, as he puts it himself, "born a crime"” — wrote TheNational in a feature article. 

Noah was born at a time when his parents' interracial relationship was illegal, and highlighted this in his autobiography “Born a Crime.” Growing up in a multicultural environment, he takes reflection on both his White and Black heritage while also exposed to Christian and Jewish traditions growing up.
