It's an encore! This year, the classic rock band—America will be heading out for a huge tour where every night shares soul-striking encores. Known for their big hits straight from the '70s through the '90s, the Grammy Award-winning band, featuring original member Dewey Bunnell and vocalist+guitarist Andy Barr, became known for their close melodies folk-rock tunes with light acoustic notes. Dominating pop and soft rock airplay on radio, they dropped a slew of hit singles and albums. Heading out for an Encore Tour this year, these nights are gonna be packed with heart-pounding throwback energies.
America is known for their hit singles "A Horse with No Name", "You Can Do Magic", "The Border", "Special Girl", and many more. Two Hot 100 #1s, winning a Grammy Award, inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, these legends have rocked the scene for over five decades.
Though they were formed in London, the American-born musicians, (original members) Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley, and Dan Peek came together and started out making music by borrowing acoustic guitars. Their style became distinct for three-part vocal harmonies with a folk-rock style. With lyrics that tell tales of introspection, reflection, and a sense of escape, their music stands the test of time. Today, both long-time fans and new generations of listeners look back and rock out to their legendary vibes.
In the 2000s, the band was highly active and became associated with the nostalgic concert circuit. Playing throwback hits and staying true to their classic sound. Performing over a hundred shows per year, their name is truly fitting to be America's band, well-loved by the public for their rockin' hits.
Original lead vocalist Dan Peek left the band in 1977, and speculations of a reunion kept looming around in every decade. Record labels were literally begging them to come back as a trio, yet the members stood firm on the decision to continue as a duo, while hinting that a reunion could still be possible. Peek passed away in 2011, and will continue to be remembered as one of America's greatest icons.
Today, the band is led by Gerry Beckley on lead and backing vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass, and harmonica. He is joined by Dewey Bunnell who takes over both lead and backing vocals as well, plus guitars and percussions.
Kicking off the Encore Tour 2025, these rockers are all set to keep the music alive, their energies kickin in, and the crowd all hyped up for their throwback hits. Don't miss out by booking your tickets now!
