Canadian born Diana Krall is one of the most incredible musicians of our time. She has become well known for her contralto voice and her ability to blend jazz and pop music. With over 15 million album sales worldwide, it should come as no surprise that she was named the second greatest jazz musician of the 2000–2009 decade by Billboard Magazine.
Her formative years in music started when she was only 4 years old. By her teens, she was already performing professionally at restaurants and bars. She eventually won a scholarship to attend Boston's Berkley College of Music, where she would study for two years.
In 1992, she returned to her native Canada to record her first studio album and "Stepping Out" was released as an album in 1993. Tommy LiPuma was impressed by the album and produced her second album, 1995's “Only Trust Your Heart.”
1996 brought her third album, “All for You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio," and marked a turning point in her career. The album paid tribute to her influences, “The Nat King Cole Trio,” and became a critically acclaimed piece of work, helped her receive her first Grammy nomination, and stayed an incredible 70 weeks on the Billboard Jazz Charts. The fourth and fifth albums came out in 1997 and 1999, called "Love Scenes" and “When I Look in Your Eyes.”
Notably, her sixth album, “The Look of Love,” achieved platinum status and reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200. At this point, she had become a very established artist in the jazz industry, and she would go on to release a further 11 albums, which included the well received, “The Girl in the Other Room” in 2004 and Quiet Nights in 2009.
Throughout her career, she has won two Grammys for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “'S Wonderful” and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for “Love Is Here To Stay” from 11 nominations. Overall, Krall's ability to wow audiences is unmatched, and fans love watching her perform live. You will too, whether you are a longtime fan or just discovering her music.
