Highly-acclaimed blues rock musician, George Thorogood, has been belting out incredible hits since 1977. Thorogood has released 15 studio albums, six of which earned gold status in the U.S. At the height of his career in 1986, he released a live album, which sold over one million copies. Thorogood introduced fans to his backing band, The Destroyers, with their self-titled debut album. The 1977 record spawned several notable covers, including John Lee Hooker’s “House Rent Boogie,” Elmore James’ “Madison Blues,” and Ellas McDaniel’s “Ride on Josephine.” The album sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S., thereby earning a gold certification for the record.

Thorogood dropped his sophomore effort, Move It On Over, the following year. The album, containing all covers, made a breakthrough into the Billboard 200, peaking at number 33. Thorogood, together with The Destroyers, covered iconic rock and roll singles from James Moore, Willie Dixon, Chuch Berry, and Elmore James. Moreover, the album’s lead single and title track was a cover of Hank Williams’ “Move It On Over.”

In 1982, Thorogood, one of the token rock and roll staples on the radio, released their most popular original song, “Bad to the Bone.” Although absent from the charts, the single was featured in several films and TV series, including Who’s the Boss, Megamind, Problem Child, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. This song is featured in Thorogood’s fifth studio album of the same name. The highly-regarded effort peaked at number 43 on the Billboard 200 chart and later earned gold after selling over 500,000 copies in the U.S. Furthermore, the album marks the band’s 25th year in the music industry.

Throughout the years, Thorogood has released several critically-acclaimed studio efforts and remained relentless with their sensational covers. By 1997, he had entered the Top 5 of Billboard’s Blues chart. Their tenth studio album Rockin’ My Life Away peaked at number 5 on the chart. It also notably spawned the fan favorite, “Rock & Roll Man.” In 2004, Thorogood achieved his first number 1 album when his compilation effort Greatest Hits: 30 Years of Rock topped Billboard’s Blues chart. Thorogood later topped the chart again in 2009 with his 14th album, the Dirty Dozen.

With 15 million records sold and an amazing career that spans five decades, George Thorogood and the Destroyers remain a force in live music. Join their big celebration this summer by scoring tickets to The Bad All Over the World – 50 Years of Rock at the Mountain Winery Amphitheater!
