Rod Stewart kickstarted his iconic career in the music industry by apprenticing with the Brentford Football Club before hitting the road across Europe with the incredibly talented folk singer Wizz Jones in the early sixties. In his early days, he rocked out with several bands such as the Birmingham-based R&B group Jimmy Powell & the Five Dimensions, Long John Baldry's crew, the Hoochie Coochie Men, and blues-rock outfit Shotgun Express. Rod Stewart also lent his vocals to the Faces, a band that gave the Rolling Stones a run for their money back in their prime! During the late sixties, this veteran singer blended his folk origins with R&B and rock vibes. The result? A totally unique, gritty acoustic-driven rock and roll sound which has earned Rod Stewart the title of the greatest singer of his generation!
